ऐ गुल्फ़रोश प्रीत के दिलबाघ में मुझे बो कर जाओ,  ख़ुशबू का उससे न हो फ़ुरकत, कोई ऐसा फूल दिखाओ । फूलों के कारोबार में बिकती है मोहब्बत की कड़ियाँ, लफ़्ज़ों बिन जो प्रेम दास्तान कह जाए, कोई ऐसा फूल दिखाओ । फेंको रात की रानी, जिसके हैं विशैले आशिक़, जिससे परायों की नज़र न लगे हीर को, कोई ऐसा फूल दिखाओ । ख़ूबसूरती गुलाब, मोग्रे, कमल की हर शायर दोहराए,  मेरी शिद्दत की अनोखी ख़ूबसूरती वाला कोई ऐसा फूल दिखाओ । सूरजमुखी आफ़ताब का दीवाना, चंद्रमुखी दिन में नज़र छुपाता, पिया का जो दीदार करे सदा, कोई ऐसा फूल दिखाओ । इश्क़ जतानेवालों का जिगर हमारे पास कहाँ, मेरी सूरत की ख़ामियाँ ढक दे जो कोई ऐसा फूल दिखाओ । सब शर्तें मानकर गुल्फ़रोश ने एक खारदार पौधा दिखाया, माशूक़ बौखलाकर बोला कोई हसीन फूल दिखाओ । कहे गुलफ़रोश, इश्क़ पूछे हसीन रूह, ना हसीन फूल, यह लिपट जाए काँटों से बिन पूछे “कोई ऐसा फूल दिखाओ”।

ज़ंजीर ख़्वाबों  में ,  रूह  में ; इस  जीवन  की  जूस्तजू  में छपा  हुआ  शब्द  है  आज़ादी यह  शब्द  ना  है  आतंकी  ना  है  जिहादी पर  कौन सा  विष  है  आख़िर  इस  समीर  में  कि  मैं  जकड़ा  हूँ  आज  ज़ंजीर  में। मेरे  इस  अधिकार  पर  मैं  धिक्कार  क्यूँ  करूँ इंसान  हूँ ,  साँसों  से  घुट्टन  का  आविष्कार  क्यूँ  करूँ क्यूँ  ना  जताऊँ  मैं  मेरी  मोहब्बत  को क्यूँ  ना  दिखाऊँ  किसी  भी  नौकरी  में  मेरी  शिद्दत  को क्यूँ  नहीं  लिंग  भेद  की  रेखा  धुँधली  हो  सकती सिर्फ़  ढोंग  के  भभूत  और  मुद्रा  के  भोग  को  क्यूँ  कहूँ  मैं  भक्ति ख़ुद के  शरीर...
